BlackLight is a performance ethnography project. We utilize the creativity and critical insight of a multigenerational group of women to reimagine the possibilities for living in under-resourced urban environments.

There will be a BEGINNING LEVEL PILATES CLASS offered before the dance class on April 1st from 4:00 – 4:45…LENGTHEN THOSE LIMBS AND STRENGTHEN THAT CORE

Aimee Cox is teaching an intermediate level modern dance class (FREE!) on Friday, April 1st  from 5-7 p.m. at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC).

This class is taught with a spirit of joy, self-acceptance and affirmation. After all, dance is LOVE!

Our goal is to make the room even more hot, packed, sweaty and joyous than the last time!

Class components include: Guided meditation – Gentle and extensive stretching – Technique training in center and across the floor work – Choreographic piece  – Text to movement translation (writing bodies, dancing text)

Aimee Cox, a former Ailey II dancer, is currently a professor of performance studies and African American expressive culture, founder of The BlackLight Project and certified Stott Pilates instructor.
